DRINKS ARE ON ME !!! It is officially autumn … time for apples, figs, grapes, pears, squash, etc. ! It is also mid-week, so why wait for Friday night or the weekend to enjoy a cocktail ? A nicely effervescent refreshing liquid treat combining the flavors of apples, whisky and maple and a sweet way to cut your work week in half ! Enjoy, but not too much, okay ?! Gotta go back to work tomorrow morning … :)

maple whisky cider cocktail


4-6 cocktails


  • 125 ml maple syrup (1/2 cup)
  • 187,5 ml apple brandy (3/4 cup)
  • 187,5 ml whisky (3/4 cup)
  • 4 dashes Angostura bitters (1 dash = 1/8 tsp)
  • 750 ml hard apple cider (1 bottle or 3 ¼ cups)
  • optional : 60 ml effervescent bitters drink like Vennezio Bitter (4 tbsp or 1/4 cup)
  • ice cubes
  • garnish : apple peel and/or orange peel and/or lemon rind


  • in a shaker filled with ice cubes, add maple syrup, apple brandy, whisky, angostura bitters and shake well until chilled
  • prepare your cocktail glasses (or small cute mason jars as I did) by adding several ice cubes to each and some apple peel (and/or orange and lemon peel)
  • fill 2/3 of each glass with the mix from the shaker, and the remaining 1/3 with apple cider and 1 tbsp of effervescent bitters drink (optional : for the nice red colour).
